Welcome to our Class Announcements Page!
This is where we will post important updates, including school closures, class notifications, schedule changes, upcoming events, testing information and other important news. Please check back often so you don't miss anything!
sparring groups
Sparring Nights will be divided into two groups. Group A will spar from 6:00-6:45 & Group B will spar from 6:55-7:30. As we grow, we may add a 3rd Group. Please be sure that you are paying attention to the calendar on our website, so you know which nights are Sparring Nights.
A reminder that ALL students are required to have all the pieces of their sparring gear before taking their first test as Intermediate Rank (Green Belt going to Blue Belt). Required sparring gear is: helmet, face shield, mouth guard, gloves, & boots. Shin pads are optional, but encouraged. All gear MUST be ordered through our Century Direct store. No outside or 2nd hand gear will be allowed!

**If you haven't been assigned to a sparring group, it's because you haven't notified SBN Lauren that you have your required sparring gear. Once you obtain the required gear, please let her know, so she can assign you to a group!**
Students who wish to spar on Fight Night are required to have, at minimum, the following:

Two Rivers Martial Arts will be closed on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 26th.
Important Announcements
**ALL STUDENTS NEED TO HAVE PATCHES ON THEIR UNIFORM BEFORE JUNE 1ST!**
Hear ye... hear ye...SBN Lauren will now hand sew on your patches for $5 per patch. CASH only.
Your uniform must be clean & if it's a round front patch, I will need the student to put on their top so the patch can be pinned on in the correct place. (Don't give it to me after you've sweated in it at class. That's yucky!) Please allow up to 1 week for sewing.
2nd Quarter Testing
2nd Quarter Testing will take place on Saturday, June 27th at Two Rivers Martial Arts. Due to space & time constraints with our new space, we have made a few changes to testing.
1. Board Breaking will no longer take place during testing. Please see the Announcement titled "Board Breaking Class".
2. Terminology will no longer be asked on testing day. Instead, students will be individually pulled aside the week prior to testing & asked their terminology. Make sure in you're in class at some point the week of testing.
3. Because we only have a 10 min. transition between tesing groups, will not be able to accommodate individual photos after testing. However, after receiving their new belts, each student will take an official photo with SBN Kennedy. These photos will be posted on Facebook. If you would like additional photos, please arrive a little early before class the week following testing and we will do our best to accommodate photo request.
4. Due to limited space & seating, testing day attendance will be limited to TWO guests per student. Bench seating will be available. Guest who are on the benches closest to the karate floor & overflow guest who will sit on the mats will be required to remove their shoes. We kindly ask that bench seating be reserved for the elderly or disabled guest who cannot sit on the floor. Please limit bringing small children when possible.
5. Absolutely NO FOOD OR DRINKS will be permitted inside the building on testing day. That applies to students & guest.

Competition Team
Our 1st Competition Team Practice will take place on Thursday, June 11th at 6pm. Competition Team members MUST have their dues paid & Membership Agreements turned in prior to attending this class. We will focus on:

Board Breaking Class
Our FIRST Quarterly Board Breaking Class will take place on Thursday, June 26th at 6pm. This class is for ALL RANKS & ALL AGES. Since Board Breaking will no longer be a part of Gup Testing (it will still be required at some Black Belt Ranks), we STRONGLY encourage all students to attend this class.
All students will be given the opportunity to perform a pre-determined (determined by rank) on the re-breakable boards. Optional additional boards may be purchased from Two Rivers by turning in a Board Order Form no later than Wednesday, June 18th. We will not accept orders after that date so that we can ensure we have enough boards for this event.
Every student who attends this event & attempts their rank appropriate break will receive a stripe on their belt, which earns them an extra entry into our Quarterly Drawing! We are super excited about this class and hope to have a "Whole School" turnout!
Report Cards
We are excited to announce that our first round of report card awards will go out in June 2026. The last day to turn in report cards is Wednesday, June 3rd. We will only accept hard copy Report Cards. Please do not text, email, message, or send them electronically. We can make copies if you need. Every student should turn in their report card, regardless of weather they will receive an award or not. Awards (FREE Donut holes from our neighbors - Holy Good Donuts!) are given for A Honor Roll, A/B Honor Roll, & Academic Improvement. IF you have questions about report cards, please see SBN Lauren.
